Dental Extractions in Reynoldsburg

Woman Talk To Dentist In Dental Clinic

What Is a Dental Extraction?

Dental extractions are sometimes necessary if a tooth is damaged or broken. The tooth may have been fixed with a crown or filling, but there is too much damage for the tooth to be repaired. Our goal is to always try and save your tooth, and only resort to extraction if all other treatments will not work. After careful examination of the tooth using x-rays, our team will discuss the recommended treatment plan with you. There are a few types of dental extractions done at Stellar Dentistry depending on the condition of the tooth.

What Kind of Dental Extractions Are There?

Simple Tooth Extraction

If the tooth is easily reached a simple tooth extraction can be done. For this type of extraction local anesthesia is used to keep patients comfortable, and our dentist simply removes the tooth.

Surgical Tooth Extraction

In some cases, the tooth may be broken or has not yet erupted in the mouth. In this situation the tooth cannot be reached easily, and a surgical extraction may be necessary. Surgical extractions are more involved, but are still a common procedure done in our office. For surgical extractions local anesthesia is used and a small incision is made in the gum to access and remove the tooth. Stitches may be needed to ensure the area heals properly.
