Instructions After A Root Canal

The following are instructions to be followed after having a root canal. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at Stellar Dentistry or you doctor.

What Restrictions Are There Now That I Have a Root Canal?

Generally speaking, after a Root Canal there are no restrictions on going back to work, physical activity or types of food you can eat.

In most cases, your dentist will recommend a crown after a root canal, keep in mind that the tooth is fragile until the crown is permanently placed. If so, we advise you stay away from chewing hard and chewy food on that tooth like steak and nuts until then.

What Can I Expect After a Root Canal?

Expect tenderness on the tooth for the first couple of weeks, your gum might be sore for a few days as well. That being said, except in rare cases, don’t expect any severe non bearable pain. If you had pin prior to the procedure, most likely it will not be there when the numbing wears off.

When Can I Start Going to Work Again?

Unless you dentist tells you otherwise, you can go back to your normal life style/schedule on the same day. That includes work, exercise etc.

Unless you suffered from a severe infection and depending on the severity of that infection/inflammation, symptoms should start improving starting day 1.

When Will Symptoms Improve?

Unless you suffered from a severe infection and depending on the severity of that infection/inflammation, symptoms should start improving starting day 1.
