Dental Crowns in Reynoldsburg

What Is a Crown?
Dental crowns can help restore broken or damaged teeth. Crowns help to protect a weak tooth from breaking down, and are typically placed after a root canal.
Crowns help to seal out any infection and fit snug over your tooth. Crowns are durable and help to keep the remaining structure of your tooth intact. Dental crowns can be customized to match the size and shape of your tooth, as well as the color, allowing the crown to blend in nicely with your other teeth.
Patients that have broken or damaged teeth can benefit from a crown. If you have large areas of decay, or notice your teeth are discolored or misshapen, you may be in need of a crown. Our detailed consultation process can evaluate your teeth and determine what type of crown will work best for you.
How Does a Crown Procedure Work?
If you have been recommended for a crown the first step will be preparing the tooth by drilling it down. This ensures the crown will be able to affix securely onto your tooth. Local anesthesia is used to keep our patients relaxed and comfortable. Our team will take impressions of your tooth, and those will be sent out to a private dental laboratory. Temporary crowns may be used until you return to our office to have the permanent crown placed. If you choose a same day or CEREC crowns, the crown will be milled in our office and placed that same day.
What Types of Crowns Are Available?
Ceramic Crowns
Ceramic crowns are made out of a porcelain material and are extremely durable. This type of crown is typically used to restore the front teeth, and blends in well with your natural teeth.
Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain crowns are durable and made out of porcelain fused to metal. This type of crown is stronger, and this is due to the structure beneath the crown. Porcelain crowns can also be matched to your natural teeth and blend in nicely.
Same Day CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) Crowns
Same day crowns or CEREC crowns can be completed in just one appointment. This type of crown can be milled in our office and placed that same day. CEREC crowns are made out of a solid block of ceramic or resin, and are shaped perfectly to match your teeth. CEREC crowns are made using computer aided technology right in our office and are durable, making this type of crown a popular choice.
